As we rode out to gather for branding yesterday, fog was settling in from nearly every direction. One appreciated the Pendleton wool coats and Carhartt jackets that were the apparel of the early daylight hours. Riding the the nearly two mile stretch to the far end of the pasture made for good conversation time as well as silent reflection.
All Across the West
"Is it the present blurring with the past... Or rather the past living on into the future. I believe it to be the latter, and that is our heritage."

A Room with a View
I would like a room with a view… and yes this one suits me just fine.

We talk often of one's "Sphere of Influence". We should never overlook those that are within that sphere. For certain, there are children and young people that are in their formative years that we influence. Do not ignore that... Larry B. Reinhold

A Bit of Poetry - Matthew 5
Just thought I would share my thoughts on Matthew 5 in a bit of poetry
Keep the vanity of earthly trophy
And the accolades of mankind.
Kindle not the fire within me
That forges deceit in heart and mind.
Make no room for arrogance and pride;
Only mournful for my sinful state.
For in repentance and redemption,
Burden and anxiety need not be my fate.
As I walk in life’s daily journey
And with each challenge that I face;
I wonder how the “meek” survive
How they ever will complete the race.
Ah yes, it is not my strength that I depend.
It is not power that is coupled with self-pride.
For humility is not weak and powerless,
But rather strength by God tested, true and tried.
Oh Lord, may your Word always be my course.
And may Your virtue forever be my desire.
And may I show mercy to the merciless.
And in gratitude I will stay true under fire.
Today, I pray to be pure in heart
Even though I may be covered in grime.
May I share with others your insurmountable peace,
The peace that stands far above the test of time.
Thank you Lord for being my Father.
I enjoy your presence in the passing of each day.
And even the midst discouragement and trial
You provide hope and strength along the way.

The Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount as Spoken by Jesus Christ and recorded in Matthew chapter 5
***
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"He must not bow his neck"
“If all that Americans want is security, they can go to prison. They’ll have enough to eat, a bed and a roof over their heads. But if an American wants to preserve his dignity and his equality as a human being, he must not bow his neck to any dictatorial government.” Dwight Eisenhower

A Strong Fascination
"Nowhere, not even at sea, does a man feel more lonely than when riding over the far-reaching, seemingly never-ending plains; and after a man has lived a little while on or near them, their very vastness and loneliness and their melancholy monotony have a strong fascination for him."

HOOFBEATS AND PRAIRIE BREEZES
I have experienced one of the best ways to help someone learn is to encourage them to understand that they may teach as well. While we have so many children at home during these difficult times, give them ample opportunity to share what they have learned to others and not just for a grade. For instance, reading to a younger sibling. Education of any sort, has to have purpose. And the student, be a child or an adult, must grasp that. Larry B. Reinhold
