"RELENTLESS" UPDATE

Around 3:30... cleared up for just a short while. This is the view out of front window. Danny had spent yesterday and last nite in town, but was able to get fuel filters picked up and brought home in that time period. Yes the tractor had gelled up... and yes Danny's mode of transportation (the pickup) is still parked up the road on the other side of snowdrifts. The good news is that they were able to get the tractor running and everyone is home. It is still blowing... around -45 degree chill factor. We are just grateful that all are home. Praying for the livestock.. our community... the region. This has been a tough go.

THANKSGIVING BLIZZARD 2019

SUNDAY MORNING AFTER THE BLIZZARD

Still see alot of tall clover standing above the snow. Cows were pleased to get out on pasture again. We measured about nineteen inches of snowfall.

The livestock fared well.

THE BEAUTY AFTER THE BEAST

Remember hanging tinsel on the tree when you were kids? God got a head start on with the Thanksgiving Holiday Blizzard 2019

OPEN WINTER

After two plus years of serious drought and a couple of pretty long winters, I don't believe there is a rancher in Meade County, South Dakota complaining about this scene. The stock is still out on range and there is grass to graze. The hay stacks are looking good as we had ample moisture to raise some feed this past summer. Compare that to the fact that much of the feed over the last couple of years had to be purchased from outside the region. My family is looking for some snow on Christmas, but each day like this is a blessing.

A SIGH OF RELIEF OVER A PARCHED EARTH

As a parched earth drinks from the bounty of a cold wet snow, I can nearly hear it say, "Ah' and then breath a sigh of relief. At least for those of us that make a living on the land, the snow we have received today has been an abundant blessing. Over ten inches so far and no wind... "so far"

Robin took the opportunity to go out with some of the other Reinhold family to see how the livestock was faring.  Of course she took her camera. Julia took some photos as well. Enjoy the walk with us in one of the last days of winter. At least that is what is says on the calendar. Those of us that live in the north country know better, and from experience, March 21 is just a day on the calendar.

A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND

Even though the temperatures were below zero or barely above... the 12 - 14" of snow over the last couple of weeks has given us hope for more much needed moisture to come our way.
