One quick story....(right)....
One Sunday afternoon when my brother Lyle and I were driving back to school, MIB at Lewistown, Montana, we had car trouble. Lyle's green Chevrolet that he bought from Grandpa Bangert had the water pump go out in Broadus. We stopped and asked someone how to go about finding repairs on a Sunday in 1978 in this small town in SE Montana. We were sent to this garage and the owner came down and went to work. He called the NAPA distributor and he delivered a water pump...In no time we were on the road. Broadus has always ranked high in my books for this act of kindness from folks that cared.
Molly's Graduation
Well Done Molly
The South Dakota Delegation
Ecola Bible School had their graduation today for the one year program. Joshua Hunt, Molly Reinhold and Levi Anderson received their diplomas along with 104 other students today in Seaside, Oregon. It has been a good day.
So nice to get to see the Hunt brothers at Ecola Bible School. Jordan and Joshua... you make us smile.
Happy Birthday Danny 2016
"He's my son;" What a thrill that is for Robin and me to say that of Danny. And today we wish him a blessed 16th birthday celebration. Danny has never been one to hide his feelings...no guessing with him. His facial expressions and eyes give him away so we have seen his heart in many trials and growing experiences. God has a plan for you Danny. We look up to you physically now, but you continue to look up to us as your parents. Thank you. and Happy Birthday Young Man...Son
The Prairie is our Garden as Well
The famous painting "The Prairie is my Garden" by South Dakota's own, Harvey Dunn is enacted in one way or another across our place and many other ranches and farms across the Great plains.
Branding Crew and Their Horses
Well the kids just got home from helping some friends brand and work cattle. They were able to ride some new country west of Belle Fourche on the Dobesh Ranch.
Rachel is unloading Bonanza. Good Lonetree Ranch horse. Tyson Hewitt put 90 days on years ago. Good using horse today. Caleb Clark rode this good gelding today west of Belle Fourche.
Jim Petty Writes…...Awesome pictures of some dear and awesome young people...and their horses... Takes this old-timer back to the days at their age... Larry and Robin, you are SO BLESSED...and you know it...
No there are no banquets or proms or parties on tap for this crew...but just looking at them... they are OK with that. And after a long day, it is time to show appreciation to your partner. "And God created the Horse!
Sprouting Grass Moon
The full moon over Dakota... April full moon is know as the "Pink Moon" or "Sprouting Grass Moon" l understand the second name better. This full moon will appear to be the smallest of all full moons this year.

On the Road
On the road today to a couple of track meets Danny went to Wall, SD and Caleb went to a large middle school event at Douglas with the Union Center team. Caleb won the high jump for 7th grade boys with a jump of 5' and he finished 4th in the 400...Danny wasn't as successful, but has plans to push on himself.
Handiwork...
There are many physical features to the ranch. These two photos taken by Robin this morning represent a couple of them. One mainly features God's handiwork. The breaks are an artistic creation. The second is "Marvin Reinhold Ditch"...the irrigation ditch was built by my dad to carry water via gravity to fields north of the house. That too, is a piece of craftsmanship. Stewardship is using properly what God has entrusted to us.
Run Julia...
Robin and Rachel took Caleb to meet up with the Union Center Middle School Team at a track meet in Belle Fourche today. Caleb was a little off on his jumping events and didi ok on his 400, but the talk was how Julia was able to step up today. One of the of the UC girls was injured for the medley relay and so coach Melanie Cammack asked Julia if she would like to run. The team all got excited...one girl had and extra pair of shorts...one girl had an extra shirt an so Julia ran...even though she is only a fifth grader. Rachel said of Julia, "She ran like a beast."
Construction Crew
Of course we have "sweet" fellowship as a crew when we get all together. Robin makes sure of that. Yesterday...wonderful homemade cookies and some of the best coffee around. And today, Danny made sure that Robin and him stopped at Wall Drug on the way home from Kadoka and they picked up some doughnuts from there. That along with ice cold milk..."oh my word!" Certainly makes for good times and fond memories.
We were able to start putting boards on the roof today. This livestock shed and tack room is 24'x68'. It has sure been nice to have days without the wind blowing.
Lessons with a Promise
The top photo is of Caleb planting tulip bulb on a nice day in December. The bottom photo is of the results. Encouraging your child to garden is a very valuable form of education. Lessons learned with results that make us smile.
A GOOD DAY
We have enjoyed some days without wind and work is progressing on the shed. We have not always had a full crew, however everyone enjoys working on it when possible.

"COWGIRLIN"
PROGRESS
Putting up rafters on the Calf and Tack or is it the Beef and Bridle or .... we really have too much fun sometimes. The wit and wisdom shared in this bunch is entertaining to say the least
We had most of our crew going today. Derek Anderson was cutting rafters with Jason Morris and Rachel Reinhold. We got the ridge board in place and now we are putting up the rafters. If we could just put a switch on the wind and then shut it off, our up in the air projects would be a trifle easier. However, we made good progress today.
Oh we had plenty of help today. We call them the boys and sometime their curiosity gets a little overwhelming, especially when you can hardly push them out of the way. But we cannot get angry with them. We really do like these Hereford steers.
Julia and Louie...pretty good buddies. Any day is good day to slip down on a good saddle horse and go for a ride..
Caleb came down this afternoon and helped as well. It is great spending time with our kids on this project. Certainly nice to have Robin with her camera keeping our photo diary well stocked.
PRETTY CUTE
Yes, business as usual, calving season continues on the Lonetree Ranch.
PREPARING SEED POTATOES
The Lonetree School had Agriculture class for the two younger girls today. Robin had them preparing seed potatoes to plant tomorrow. Cutting them in pieces to ensure eyes were in each piece and then sorting them and then letting them dry a day or so will provide seed for a nice patch of potatoes. Good job girls.
Will You Give Me A Ride Too
You know I love this horse...we have made a great team for quite a few years. Saturday at the track meet, a little boy came up to me and said, "Do you remember giving me a ride on your horse." With a little prompting from Robin, I replied that I did. After all, there have been hundreds or more. A little later the boy, Kanin, returned with his little brother. We talked and then he looked up at me and said, "Will you give me a ride on your horse, too?"
I love what I do....For the Kingdom.
CHORE TIME
Even the saddle horses in the barn will take any extra loving. That's alright with these kids.
Needing a little extra attention..."Because baby, it's cold outside." Robin enjoyed her trek around the barnyard this morning as chores were being done.
The Reinhold family has nearly always had milk cows that we milk the old fashioned way. We enjoy having plenty of milk and good thick cream skimmed from the top.
Question??? "How do I explain to our kids that in the last couple of years that South Dakota has outlawed the sale of raw milk and Colorado and other states have legalized the use of marijuana?
Julia and Kiersten's Happy Chickens are just a little down today due to the snow..."Have you ever seen a chicken frown?" However the coop is the warmest place in the barnyard and they are still laying well. We will be taking eggs to town this evening
And for all you Belle Dog fans....She enjoys the snow. Praising the Lord for good moisture.
Ask Caleb Clark or Julia and Caleb Reinhold about our workout program.
... a lump in my throat
".... a lump in my throat."
We enjoyed going over to the Amdahl Angus and Hereford Bull Sale this afternoon. These folks are fine longtime friends over south on Elk Creek. Good cattle and good neighbors. Tim started out the sale with a welcome and then invited all to stand and join in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. He said many of us grew up saying it daily in the country schools that we attended...(I know that we did at Alkali). All stood and removed their hats and in one voice...I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
I found myself halfway through the pledge and I had had to stop as a lump in my throat stopped me... Hard to explain, except that I was amongst a crowd that was standing and joining in conviction and good conscience.
I shared this with my family this evening and Robin said that she had experienced the same. We say the Pledge often. In this day where patriotism in America seems to be waning and commitment to principle daily is becoming increasingly difficult to find, today's gathering of good folks gathered around good cattle was a blessing.
Allegiance is only that when lived each day and not only on occasion. And devotion to the Republic...One Nation UNDER GOD.... Indivisible ...liberty and justice for all. As one reflects on the words perhaps the condition of our USA is more understood as so many have turned their back on not only the flag, but also the Republic and certainly God Almighty.
