EVER SINCE...
Ever since I was little one of my favorite places to ride was up the road to visit my Grandpa. I would ride right up next to this window and wait until he would see me... he would always greet me with the biggest smile and a friendly wave. Oftentimes I would tie my horse up and go inside for a short visit. He was quick to offer me a cookie, tell me a story about a horse from his past or just offer me some daily encouragement. I never left his house without first getting a firm handshake and maybe a kiss on the cheek. And no matter what, he would always tell me how much he loved me, and that he was proud of me.
It's hard to believe that it has been almost two years since we have enjoyed a visit together, Grandpa. Tonight as I rode next to your window, I could imagine your cheerful smile through that glass... I would give an awful lot to once again firmly grip your big hand and tell you I love you. I know without a doubt that you loved me, because you never missed an opportunity to tell me. That is just one of the many things that I learned from you... and I am forever grateful. I miss you lots, Grandpa... and as you would always say..."I sure do love you..."
Always thank Jesus for those that He has given you... and never miss an opportunity to tell someone you love them! You won't have them around forever.
Note From Anna Jones of Great Britain
So great to visit Larry-Robin Reinhold AndFamily nearly three years after the storm that blew in Sybil Ruscoe and I. Great to see how the ranch and the family have bounced back after such tough times. Here they are singing 'Courage' which Robin wrote at the time of Storm Atlas.
MEMORIAL DAY BRANDING
Yes we have branded on Memorial Day... Yes we have enjoyed family on Memorial Day...Yes we have in the past gone fishing after the yearly tradition of branding...And yes there have been rainbows. This evening, once again God reminded our family of his promises and sustaining power. Certainly that day in 1979, when my brothers and a friend died here on the ranch, changed our lives. But we press on and we are blessed each day by God's promises. Time goes on..."But thanks be to God" Life can go on eternally. :)
Today we enjoyed seeing this beautiful rainbow just as we observed on that Memorial Day 37 years ago when God gave us a rainbow over the ranch on a branding day after the boys died....thus the name, RAINBOW BIBLE RANCH

PUTTING HEIFERS OUT TO PASTURE
Thanks guys and gals. The only thing to make this lineup better would be to have Mom and me there with you.
The Reinhold Crew moved heifers to the Little Johnson Pasture. This is a great little pasture. Good grass... It was one time the home of the Friedolph Johnson family. They homesteaded there in the early part of the last century. Victor Johnson, a son, was a good friend right up to his passing a few years ago. It was a joy to walk the old homestead site listening to his stories.
It was nearly dark when we gathered for supper. Rachel made Swedish Pancakes with a wonderful rhubarb/cream cheese filling and topped with a very favorable rhubarb sauce. Derek grilled sirloin steak. We all gathered in the dining room of our old house, grateful to our Lord for a productive and safe day. Thank you Robin, Rachel, Molly, Danny, Caleb, Julia, Kiersten, Caleb Clark and Derek Anderson. To God Be the Glory.
PRETTY?... MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE
Pale Milk Snake (Lampropeltis t. multistriata) are not necessarily rare in South Dakota, but are seldom seen. We found this one this afternoon. They are "very shy" and actually quite pretty. They are not harmful. Oh by the way...if your only comment to follow is "Eek! I hate snakes"... change your perspective to "educational"
The Tetons
A family from South Dakota
A man from California
At the Base of the Tetons in Wyoming.
We stopped the vehicle to take a family pic and we had just lined up the kids and Robin was taking the photos. As we were in the process, a small compact car with a single person inside drove by. The Reinhold family is very good at looking at license plates and one of us commented "California". The car went about 150 yards down the road stopped and turned around. As the driver pulled up, he leaned out the window and said, "I wouldn't forgive myself if I had not asked you if you wanted me to take a photo for you." He took several shots and handed back the camera. We said, "Thank you" and he said, "Your welcome."
"There are many good folks out there...be one of them." This man from California was.
As we were leaving the Jackson Hole country, Robin was driving and I looked out my window behind us. I said, "You need to stop." I jumped out and clicked a memory.
The Cross and our Dear Laura
IT'S ABOUT THE CROSS.... The tree, a Rocky Mountain Juniper, grown by God, discovered and "touched up" up Arthur Lilly, and now positioned near the grave of dear Laura Chord on the family ranch. So appropriate.
It's not just about the manger
Where the baby lay
It's not all about the angels
Who sing for him that day
It's not just about the shepherds
Or the bright and shining star
It's not all about the wisemen
Who travelled from afar
It's about the cross
It's about my sin
It's about how Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again
It's about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
It's about the cross
It's about the cross
It's not all about the good things
In this life I've done
Its not all about the treasures
Or the trophies that I've won
Its not about the righteousness
That I've found within
Its about His precious blood
That save me from my sin
The beginning of the story
is wonderful and great
But it's the ending that can
save you and that's why we celebrate
It's about the cross
It's about my sin
It's about how
Jesus came to be born once
So that we could be born again
It's about God's love
Nailed to a tree
It's about every drop of blood that flowed from Him
when it should have been me
It's about the stone
That was rolled away
So that you and I could have real life someday
So that you and I could have real life someday
It's about the cross
It's about the cross
PHOTO ESSAY BY MAYSA HACKENS (AS EYE SEE IT PHOTOGRAPHY)
We branded with the Hackens family and Maysa took these photos. of the family. You may contact her at her website by following the link below.
A DEAR FRIEND, INDEED.
This afternoon in Sturgis, we decided that we would like to visit the gravesite of our dear friend Brandon. His wit and encouragement lifted our spirits when he walked among us and after these two and half years, we find that our hearts still ache. Brandon could have been on my mind, as I challenged the folks in my sermon this morning to the "passion of the call" since we do not know the number of our days. We continue to pray for the Delzer family and friends of this great young man and we look forward to being reunited with him in the presence of our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Hot Iron Brand
I do not have to defend the use of the hot iron brand...but I will explain it's importance. It is an excellent nearly tamper proof, permanent mark on all colors of cattle that displays ownership whether one is up close or from a distance. It is necessary in big range country and has proven useful to keep people "honest". Yes it does hurt for awhile. But surprisingly little. I know...I have the mark on my arm from a branding iron. The best iron is a very hot iron.
Hackens Ranch Branding
Dean Hackens is a cowboy and cattleman and I may add a good friend. He doesn't miss those double hockers very often.
Derek Anderson and Julia Reinhold had the important jobs making sure that the vaccinations and worming were being done right. They heard their names called often. Good job you two.
These two have been wrestling calves for years. Rachel and Molly Reinhold make a good team and yes they "get 'er done".
Rachel proved a worthy hand with a loop today as well. Good job Cowgirl.
Kiersten was very helpful today as well. This is right down her ally.
Robin had an enjoyable time today. She was able to do quite a little roping. I might add that she was extremely pleased with her favorite roan horse...but she has always been pleased with favorite roan horses.
Since Julia had the task of "pouring". She had to wait till every thing was done on each calf...and when the ropers were keeping us really busy, a team of wrestlers could not be sitting idle for very long. So we heard "Julia, Julia, Julia" a lot. She was always always smiling.
Caleb Clark is also part of our crew when we tackle big projects. Caleb has worked at RBR many summers and now has been full time for just over a year. Thank you Sir.
Robin and I so appreciate the time that our oldest son, Danny, takes in helping and teaching his little sisters.
We had a good time branding at the Hackens Ranch today. Everyone worked well together and diligently. Julia and Kiersten got in the action from numerous angles today, including holding some calves. Not bad for 10 and 8 years of age.
Suppertime.... Roast Beef, Homemade Bread and Good Friends
We planted trees....A bunch of them. Robin had a wonderful supper of roast beef and home made bread and corn and... The roast was phenomenal...She had added some raspberry chipotle over the top. Excellent. The kids got me a "Fitbit" for my birthday and tonight it said that I had walked over 10,000 steps...that is a lot of miles. No wonder I was hungry. We had good fellowship and a lot fun. Thanks everyone for your hard work.
EXCEPT
This is so our Rachel...and yes she enjoys the writings of Louis L'Amour. :)
"I have walked where the Old Ones walked, and followed paths made by their feet. I have drunk from the springs where they knelt to drink, but I have left no mark of my passing, save what occurs in the pages of what I have written. This was their land; it is now, for the moment, our land. It will someday be the land of those who follow, who in better or worse times must take a living from it or find pleasure in its loneliness, its silence, its beauty. I hope to leave no more mark than the passing of a soft wind, to disturb the sand no more, or bend the grass.
Except, here or there I shall plant a tree. "
FROM FRONTIER - Louis L'Amour
I might add..."A girl after my own heart". LBR

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ROBIN LEE
Happy Mother's Day Robin Lee.
When I was a kid, I thought it was cool to have my birthday on Mother's Day. I would of course tell my mom that she was blessed. However, yesterday I celebrated my birthday on Mother's day once again and I am blessed to share this Mother's Day with the mother of my our children. Thanks Robin Lee... Oh...and you know what else was fun...? I was told by my sister and kids that it was my golden, golden birthday. I was born on 5/8/58 and I turned 58 years old. My sister, Lana Morris, said it was more like my g-old-en birthday.
And no Robin is not near as old as I am...

Eastern Oregon
We could not see Mt. Hood from the west side, but when we left the Columbia River Gorge and set out across the prairies... we were blessed to see this view of this grand jewel of Oregon.
Mt. Hood
After spending the night in Pendleton, Oregon, we headed south and this is the view looking west from Baker City. We had great day of traveling
Talk about a golden educational trip as well...Today the Oregon Trail along with Fort Hall and numerous other places of interest. Tomorrow over the Tetons to Jackson. Did you know that Jedediah Smith had the first Sunday School in Jackson Hole at rendevouz with mountain men that had gathered there some 150 plus years ago.
