"Remember... "Where's the beef?"
Now it seems to be... "Here is my beef" .... and I am not talking about the product derived from Bovine.
Wow... everyone is jumping at the chance to have something to say.. .even when they have little to say. For too long we nearly worshipped our favorite politicians ignoring their arrogance. When one can manipulate the markets with a few misspoken words or the stroke of a pen... Carelessly delivered or deliberate. ... Someone will be wronged and more than likely someone behind the scenes will benefit from those actions. Cattle numbers are low and will get lower in our state and much of our region due to drought. We are not selling cows just because prices are good... we are selling cows because of lack of moisture. The price of essential foods is really not the problem. If we were to sit down and make a list of essentials vs. the rest of what we spend our money on... we would discover that our frivolous spending is what is taking a larger portion of our paycheck. Beef can be an affordable part of our family's meal plan. It still can be purchased at two to four dollars per serving. And beef is much more than just protein... It is a healthy part of one's diet... and it is a pleasure to eat. Beef production is the largest part of the number one industry in South Dakota... and for the first time in years.... the cow calf operator is making a little money and that will go further to benefit our economy here at home than bringing in some lower standard beef to save the consumers a buck or two. I am not sharing this insight to be the forum of comments, but rather my thoughts. And if you don't like my thoughts... that is your decision. And yes thoughts require some thinking and pondering... And I have strived to do just that before speaking and sharing my thoughts. May we all do the same. Have a good day. Larry
